The Palace
In 1900, renowned Italian architect Carlo Busiri Vici envisioned a neo-Renaissance style palace. He borrowed from the Renaissance’s classic architectural elements, gables and columns, to create symmetrical elegant shapes. The interiors, never commonplace or ornamental, are a reflection of meticulous attention to detail. They provide the hotel with that “fin de siècle” elegance – theatrical yet perfectly captured by the concept of “understated luxury”.
A Place of History
Opened in 1905 as the “Palace of the Ambasciatori”, the building was originally conceived as a prestigious residence for ambassadors visiting Rome. Over the decades, its story became closely intertwined with the international character of Via Veneto and the city itself.
From 1946 to 1993, the Palace was home to the U.S. Embassy Library, becoming a meeting point for American and Italian culture in the heart of Rome. This important chapter added a new layer to the building’s identity, one shaped by hospitality, diplomacy and cultural exchange.
